The family member you should never leave out of your photo session

The most meaningful family photographs tell the complete story of your family—including the four-legged members who fill your home with love. As a family photographer, I believe pets bring an irreplaceable connection to family portraits, creating timeless images that become treasured heirlooms for generations.

Every Member of the Family Deserves a Place in the Frame

When I say I’m a family photographer, I truly mean every member of the family. Including the four-legged ones.

The curious ones who want to explore every corner of the park. The protective ones who stay close to the people they love most. The ones who greet me with enthusiastic jumps, leave slobbery kisses on my hands, or patiently wait for the treat they know is coming after a few photographs.

As a family photographer, I believe the most meaningful images come from documenting the relationships that make your family uniquely yours. For many families, that includes the beloved pets who have been there through milestones, celebrations, and quiet moments.

Whether I’m photographing a newborn session at home, creating timeless family portraits outdoors, or documenting the beautiful chaos of life with young children, I always welcome the family members who bring an extra layer of personality and love to your story.

My approach to newborn and family photography is rooted in connection rather than perfection. I’m not looking for perfectly posed moments. Instead, I focus on the genuine interactions; the way your child wraps their arms around the family dog, the gentle glance between parents, or the excitement of a furry companion who simply wants to be close to the people they love.

These authentic moments create photographs that feel timeless, elegant, and deeply personal. They become heirlooms that remind you not only of what your family looked like, but what life felt like during this season.

Because years from now, when you look back through your newborn portraits or family photographs, you’ll want to remember everyone who made your house feel like home.

And sometimes, the family member who leaves paw prints on the floor leaves the biggest imprint on your heart.
